You can lower your blood pressure with salt if you choose the right salt. The use of table salt tends to increase blood pressure. The statement “Salt is salt” is absolutely wrong.
In 1904 two medical students (Ambard and Beaujard) experimented with the question of whether salt could be the cause of high blood pressure. They concluded that salt raises blood pressure and that eating fruit lowered blood pressure.
Dr.Shibata Jiro,a high blood pressure specialist from Japan, in contrast with the findings of the 2 students, clearly states in his book:
“Salt has nothing to do with high blood pressure.” (3)
In the meantime, it is believed that pure table salt (refined salt) activates ACE. ACE stands for Angiotension Converting Enzyme, an enzyme that is involved in raising blood pressure.
But be careful. Salt used together with by other minerals (trace elements) provides a better result. Rats fed unrefined sea salt continued to maintain low blood pressure. It is believed that the trace elements as well as magnesium, potassium and calcium present in unrefined sea salt are sufficiently present to keep blood pressure low. (2)
At the University of Japan (Kobe), scientists proved that the type of salt taken makes the difference in raising blood pressure or maintaining stable normal blood pressure.
They concluded that unrefined sea salt, such as Bamboo salt and Khoisan fleur de sel, together with sufficient other minerals (trace elements), are able to expel the excess salt from the body. Which table salt or refined salt cannot.
In the experiment with rats, table salt was 40% stored in the body, while unrefined salt was almost always found in the urine.
“The human body consists of 70% water with a salinity of 0.9%. Drip bags in hospitals therefore contain salt. The question is not whether we should eat salt, but rather what salt we should eat. Without blood pressure the supply of nutrients and the removal of waste materials would not be possible ”- Bart Maes, organic veggie man.
A temporary increase in blood pressure after eating salt is the energy needed to remove waste and absorb nutrients. Bamboo salt together with its trace elements facilitates the removal of waste, helps to remove the excess salt, helps to keep and make cells vital. Bamboo salt cleans the blood.
Claiming today that salt causes high blood pressure is too much of a gerneralization. The type of salt that we eat does make an important difference to our health. The little trace elements that come with unrefined salt do make a big difference. No doubt about that.
