What dosage should you use for MCT oil?

It is wise to start with one teaspoon at a time and see how your body reacts to this. Some of us can only handle a small amount. If you exceed this limit, you might suffer from nausea or diarhoea, but most people don’t experience any problems at all, only health benefits.

Therefore, rationing the dose and building it up is very important, especially in the case of sensitive intestines. Taking MCT oil (medium fatty acid chains) together with a meal will resolve any discomfort. MCT oil in combination with fruit is not recommended. If you do not experience any discomfort when taking one teaspoon at a time, you can gradually increase your intake of MCT oil up to a maximum of 6 teaspoons per day. More than 6 teaspoons a day is of little use unless under therapeutic supervision.

How should you use MCT?

You can ingest MCT oil directly by pouring it on a teaspoon, but it also works perfectly in a salad or with vinaigrettes. It is also great in desserts, sauces, dressings and breakfast recipes.
